Meet Brendan Sherry, Senior Consultant , VIC
What do you do at CreditorWatch and why do you love it?
I’m a senior consultant at CreditorWatch. I have been with the company new for 4 years assisting larger corporate customers onboard new customers or suppliers safely through our reporting options. I enjoy my job as I see myself as an advisor to businesses enabling them reduce risk and empowering customers to have confidence in whom they deal with. Our products are industry leading and we get great feedback from our customers that enjoy using our range of tools.
What does your average workday look like?
As you can imagine, my day involves sending lots of emails and calling my customers to help them manage their debtors. CreditorWatch is vital to their business and my customers rely on me to be a source of knowledge for the varied situations that arise. It always keeps me on my toes which is what makes each day exciting.
But, CreditorWatch plays hard too, and I like to make the Melbourne office a fun place to be. There is always plenty of banter! I head to the pool table in the office for a quick game whenever I need a break or sneak in a gym session. I find they’re good ways to de-stress and keep me in a good head space.
What makes CreditorWatch special to you?
CreditorWatch is big on culture which is fantastic. The team that I work with makes coming into the office or working alongside them easy especially throughout this pandemic.
Having management that support new ideas and feedback is something that I really appreciate and helps the company as a while grow and develop.
The company not only has a great solution for its customers but by having the right team and approach internally we have the positivity from it staff reaches the customer which creates a nice working environment.
What’s the biggest career lesson you’ve learnt so far?
My biggest in my career I learnt was from my time working as a chef. It taught me to work efficiently and to be well organised throughout my day along with putting in the hard work and hours to get the job done.
This has carried with me into my sales career. The hours may not be the same but I try to jam pack as much into my days and to reach out to as many people along the way.
What was your first job?
My first job in Sales was a Tesla and the second sales employee in Melbourne when Tesla first entered the marker here in Australia.
I was lucky enough to be a part of the team that launched the electric vehicles into a new market. It was a very exciting experience to be a part of.
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
As a sales consultant, my dad was always an inspiration as he worked as a sales manager in the footwear industry during the 80s and 90s. But overall, my most inspirational leader would be Elon Musk. I love what he is doing and what Tesla stands for.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would you do?
If I could do one job for a day, it would probably be a chef at a Michelin star restaurant. I still love food and would like to taste the excitement of service in a world renowned restaurant again just for 1 day.
What has kept you busy during COVID lockdown? – activities e.g., cooking, binge of
shows/movies
Exercise for me has been my saviour during covid. I ran and did home workouts to keep me sane! Without my daily run I don’t know where I would be. I am a big believer mental health comes from looking after yourself not only fitness wise but also through your diet.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? What would you want to see?
Bali! I miss being able to go somewhere warm during the year and get some sun and waves.
What are you most looking forward to doing once we get out of lockdown? Post lockdown bucket list?
Being able to travel again would be amazing. Me and my partner Kelly have a baby boy on the way in October and being able to travel with our new family member in the net 12 months would be amazing.
