On June 18, I’m sleeping in my backyard to help fight against homelessness
“This is the second consecutive year I’m participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout: an annual event that raises awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness in Australia.
It’s a one-night event, but it helps contribute to the work Vinnies do for the entire year. Everyone deserves a safe and warm place to sleep at night, but this isn’t a reality for thousands. Life can change in an instant, and that’s something we’ve seen during COVID-19. Many people have lost their income and are struggling to provide basic necessities for themselves and their families.
This year, I’m pledging to raise at least $5,000 so Vinnies can continue to offer their essential services to the people who need it. This will help provide emergency accommodation, food and support to those who are doing it tough.”
This year will be a different type of sleepout
“In light of COVID-19, this year’s event has changed to allow for social distancing. I will be sleeping in my backyard to experience how harsh the outdoor elements are for the countless Australians that sleep rough every night.
The event will also be live streamed and hosted by Dr Andrew Rochford, so despite the physical distance, I’ll have the company of hundreds of other participants around the country.
I’m humbled and honoured to take part in the CEO Sleepout again in 2020.
Please sponsor me and donate to those that need it the most. Every amount can mean the world of difference to someone that’s struggling. Follow CreditorWatch on LinkedIn for updates leading up to the event.
Thank you so much for your support.”
About the Vinnies CEO Sleepout
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is an annual one-night event that raises funds for the St Vincent De Paul Society. Hundreds of CEOs and business leaders sleep outdoors to show support for the homeless in Australia and experience what it’s like to rough it on a cold winter’s evening.
In 2019, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout raised $7.9 million for people experiencing homelessness and at risk of homelessness. That equates to almost 2 million individual support programs, 1.59 million meals and 689,819 beds for people in need.
