Meet Alberto Cubeddu, Head of Development
What do you do at CreditorWatch and why do you love it?
I’m the Head of Development working with the team in Sydney! I love my position because I’m lucky enough to combine innovation with business needs and to be surrounded by what I consider the best developers in Australia!
What does your average workday look like?
The most important part of the day is coffee time! It’s a great way to start the day and have a quick chat with the team. As soon as I’m back in the office, we begin with stand-up where I got a high overview of how the projects are progressing and possible roadblocks.
Soon after that, I open my to-do list, and I start to organise the day with the three most important things to do, followed by all the routine tasks (e.g. check emails at 11:00, meetings for the days).
Lunchtime is always exercise time; it helps me focus more and start the second half of the day super energised! Last but not least, before going home, I spend time learning something new. Innovation is key at CreditorWatch, and learning is an important task that’s needed to achieve the best results in our field.
Your role probably exists at other companies. What makes CreditorWatch special?
The people around me make the difference! From the high performing people in the dev team to the management team that always listens to us regarding what the right direction is based on customer needs.
Working in a customer-centric organisation allows you to think outside the box, enhance customer experience, increase revenue, eliminate non-value added activities, reduce bureaucracy and increase organisational agility.
What’s the biggest career lesson you’ve learnt so far?
The biggest lesson comes from different personality traits. I’m lucky enough to work with all of them! I’m a massive fan of the DiSC Profile and having the opportunity to deal with people of different personalities. Thus has been an enormous lesson for me!
Being an “i”, I place emphasis on shaping the environment by influencing or persuading others and being able to understand how to behave with other personality types. This has been the most crucial career lesson so far!
What’s been your biggest achievement in your role?
Without a doubt, the team culture!
Hiring the right person, letting them fit in the role and not disrupting the equilibrium inside the team is an art. You need to combine so many different factors to make sure that everything works well. And we are doing a fantastic job here at CreditorWatch, with a retention rate that is considered one of the highest in our field!
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
I don’t have a who, but a what! I love to learn and improve, and I’m always setting new goals in both my work life and my personal life. Having a goal inspires you to achieve it and stops you from procrastinating.
What three emojis do you use the most?
🤣 💪 💣
What was your first job?
I worked in a theatre as my dad was a theatre director! My job was far easier than his but quite enjoyable. I had to chat with people as they arrived and help them in case they needed it. I was 6!
Of course, it was not a paid job, but my parents needed to find me something to do instead of running around like a crazy monkey with a toy sword/gun in my hand! Helping people as always been one of my best skills.
What three apps do you use the most?
Habit– To track the progress of my objectives
Medium/Google News – to stay up to date with the news
WhatsApp – you need to communicate with people, don’t you?
If you could do another job for just one day, what would you do?
That’s an easy one! I would be a millionaire. I think I would be very good at it! 🤣
